What does my 10-year cardiovascular risk mean?

It is an estimate of the chance of having a heart or artery problem in the next 10 years, calculated from your data.

Which data it uses

  • Age and sex
  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Glucose or diabetes
  • Kidney health
  • Smoking

Who calculates it

Your cardiologist calculates it with validated calculators and interprets it with your history, tests and family background.

A probability, not a destiny

A 10 % risk means that out of 100 people with data like yours, about 10 might have an event in 10 years. It does not say what will happen to you. Taking care of blood pressure, cholesterol, activity and quitting smoking can lower it.

This does not replace a medical visit. If these symptoms sound familiar, see a cardiologist.
